Why is your pumpkin purple?

In September 2012, while on a drive through Connecticut one Sunday morning with his family, the founder of the Purple Pumpkin Project (Ron Lamontagne) was brainstorming ideas on how to spread epilepsy awareness.

The local pumpkin patch provided the solution.

Since families would soon be decorating pumpkins, Ron decided to make one purple and tell people about epilepsy when they asked, “Why is your pumpkin purple?

In 2018, Epilepsy Simcoe County started the initiative of the Purple Pumpkin Project in our region.  It’s our goal to continually increase awareness, and to open up the needed conversations about Epilepsy.
