What is Epilepsy?
Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disease which effects each person differently.
The effects of epilepsy can range from mild and relatively minor, to extremely serious. Epilepsy is not only a health concern, but also effects ones self esteem and well being. Epilepsy can cause lack of independence, isolation and social stress, learning and work challenges and direct health and safety risks.
There are two types of epilepsy which then branch off to multiple types of seizures. It is important to note that a single seizure is not epilepsy but they are reoccurring seizures that can be detected. The following chart helps to identify the different types of seizures.
