10 Ways YOU Can Host a Successful Event
- DECIDE THE TYPE OF EVENT YOU THINK IS BEST FOR YOU!
- Talk to people you trust to help you choose, or look at event suggestion lists like this one
- Decide who you want your target audience to be (who you would like to have participate/attend)
- Keep it simple and small at first – it will be easier to manage this way
- SET A FUNDRAISING GOAL
- Setting a realistic and attainable financial goal
- Plan out a budget – this will help you control expenses and avoid overspending
- CHOOSE A DATE
- Determine the amount of time you will need in order to plan your event successfully
- If it is an outdoor event, consider the time of year and climate
- Research to see if there is any other community events or major holidays that could influence attendance
- TELL US ABOUT YOUR EVENT
- Give us a call and tell us about your event plans at (705) 737-3132, we want to know all about your event
- If you require it, we can offer advice and possibly aid in running the event – we want you to succeed!
- GET SOME HELP
- Ask people you trust to come out and support you
- This could be anyone (family, friends, co-workers, etc…)
- PROMOTE, PROMOTE, PROMOTE!
- Think about how you want people to know about your event (flyers, posters, brochures, tickets, email, twitter, facebook, etc…)
- Ask us for the best way to use our Logo and other copyright material
- Let us know who your sponsors are so we can avoid any conflicts of interest
- PLAN OUT THE EVENT LOGISTICS
- Make sure you have enough people on hand to help and that you have clearly assigned jobs
- Having a timeline or schedule of the event day will make things run when they are supposed to
- Making a list of what you need for each part of the event can be helpful as well
- THANK EVERYONE
- It doesn’t matter if someone only did the smallest thing, any support should be acknowledged and appreciated
- Acknowledge everyone who participated in your event and let them know how much their support means to you
- MAKE YOUR DONATION
- Submit all funds to Epilepsy Simcoe County no later than 30 days after your event so we can put your fundraising efforts to use as soon as possible
- Make sure you include your Follow-Up Report
- CONGRADULATE YOURSELF
- Taking on the responsibility of hosting your own fundraising event has its challenges and we recognize the effort and time commitment you made
- Acknowledge and appreciate yourself for doing so much hard work
